Health Tips for the New Year’s Day Holiday

Winter and spring are peak seasons for respiratory infectious diseases. At present, the COVID-19 pandemic is spreading rapidly overseas, while domestically, multiple sporadic and scattered local cases have emerged, with localized outbreaks occurring in certain regions. Health Tips for the New Year’s Day Holiday: 1. Each individual is the “primary person responsible” for epidemic prevention and control. Everyone should conscientiously abide by the epidemic prevention and control regulations set forth by their village (community) as well as by transportation, health, and other relevant authorities, and by public venues. 2. We encourage everyone to celebrate the holidays where they are, minimizing group meals, gatherings, and crowds. Family gatherings are recommended to be limited to no more than 10 people. 3. Reduce unnecessary travel; if you must go out, consider traveling during off-peak hours. Avoid non-essential outbound tourism. Long-distance travel is not recommended for special groups such as the elderly, individuals with chronic illnesses, and pregnant or postpartum women. While traveling, try to minimize contact with public objects, reduce the frequency and duration of meals, and closely monitor your health throughout the journey. 4. When going out, carry a mask with you at all times. Wear a mask when visiting public places such as hospitals, train stations, airports, shopping malls, supermarkets, and farmers’ markets; when using public transportation or enclosed elevators; or when coming into close contact—within 1 meter—with others. 5. Purchase cold-chain foods such as seafood and poultry and livestock products from reputable sources. When handling or preparing cold-chain foods, take proper personal protective measures and wash and disinfect your hands promptly. Cold-chain foods should be stored separately, and cooking utensils and tableware should be kept separate for raw and cooked items. Cold-chain foods must be thoroughly cooked; cooking utensils and tableware that have been used to handle cold-chain foods should be cleaned and disinfected promptly. 6. When dining out, choose restaurants or eateries that are reputable and maintain high standards of hygiene. Use communal chopsticks and serving spoons, and refrain from eating wild game. When shopping outside, try to use scan‑to‑pay methods whenever possible. For food delivery, opt for contactless delivery whenever feasible.

COVID-19 Prevention Tips During the National Day Holiday

As the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays approach, everyone can take this time to relax and unwind—but personal protective measures must not be neglected. Here are some reminders: ◆ At present, the COVID-19 epidemic in China is under effective control; however, the global pandemic situation remains severe. It is recommended that you avoid traveling across provincial borders, refrain from visiting medium‑ and high‑risk areas within China, and do not travel abroad (or leave the country). Plan your itinerary wisely and try to steer clear of crowded, densely populated areas. ◆ When you’re out and about, be sure to practice good personal hygiene: wear a mask when riding public transportation or in enclosed spaces with large crowds, carry portable hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and other hygiene supplies with you, and wash and disinfect your hands frequently. While enjoying your outings, pay attention to traffic safety, food safety, infectious disease prevention, and drowning prevention; also be sure to stay informed about weather changes and take precautions against natural disasters. ◆ When you go out, try to avoid visiting commercial internet cafes, KTVs, bars, dance halls, and similar venues where large numbers of people gather. Keep an eye on your own health and that of your family members—should you experience any discomfort such as coughing, fever, or diarrhea, seek medical attention promptly.
