[Abstract] Objective To explore the effect of microwave treatment on infant rotavirus (RV) diarrhea. Methods 243 infants with rotavirus diarrhea were divided into two groups, i.e., 118 cases in the control group.According to the degree of dehydration, they were given oral or intravenous fluids to correct dehydration, acidosis, and electrolyte disorders, and were given dietary adjustments and microcological therapy. ), intestinal mucosa protector (intestinal mucosa protector) treatment; 125 cases in the treatment group, plus microwave treatment. Results The total effective rates of the treatment group and the control group were 96.8% and 89.0% respectively (χ2=24.35, P<0.001), there was a significant difference. Conclusion Microwave treatment of infant rotavirus diarrhea is effective and rapid, which is worthy of clinical promotion.

rotavirus (rotavirus, RV) causes infantile diarrhea, which occurs in autumn and winter. It is also called autumn diarrhea. There is no specific drug treatment. From January 2002 to January 2006, we used microwave to treat the disease and achieved good results. The results are reported as follows.

1 materials and methods

1.1 General information: According to the standards of the Chinese Ministry of Health in 1993 to formulate the Chinese Diarrhea Diagnosis and Treatment Program[1, 243 cases of diarrhea infants and young children with positive RV antigen detection by ELISA were divided into two groups. There were 118 cases in the control group, including 62 males and 56 females, aged 3 months to 21 months; 71 cases of mild dehydration, 45 cases of moderate dehydration, and 2 cases of severe dehydration; the time from onset to admission was 4-72 hours, 17 hours on average. In the treatment group, there were 125 cases, 76 males, 47 females, aged 3 months-24 months; 64 cases of mild dehydration, 35 cases of moderate dehydration, and 2 cases of severe dehydration; the time from onset to admission was 6-72 hours, with an average 18 hours. All the children had an acute course of disease, with egg-flower soup or watery stools, no pus or blood, and normal blood. The two groups of children are comparable in terms of gender, age, course of disease, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea.

1.2 Treatment method: Both groups were given oral or intravenous rehydration according to the degree of dehydration to correct dehydration, acidosis, electrolyte disturbance, diet adjustment and microcological therapy (microcological therapy), intestinal mucosa protector (intestinal mucosa protector) treatment and corresponding symptomatic treatment . The treatment group was treated with microwave irradiation.

1.3 Application equipment and operation: Multifunctional microwave therapy instrument, microwave frequency 2450 ± 10 MHz, adjustable power 0-150W. The child took the supine position, selected the pulse output mode, centered on the umbilicus, and selected a circular external irradiation probe with a diameter of 7 cm, which was vertically aligned with the middle and lower abdomen, and the probe was 2-5 cm from the abdominal skin. The choice of microwave power is based on the warmth the children feel. The standard is about 10W for age <6 months, 15W for 6-12 months, and 20W for >12 months. Each time is 20 minutes, 2 times a day, and a course of treatment is 5 days.

1.4 Notes: (1) The skin distance of the irradiation probe should not be less than 2cm to prevent skin burns; (2) The child's body temperature exceeds 38.0℃ and use it temporarily.

1.5 Efficacy Judgment Criteria [2]: markedly effective, stool properties and frequency returned to normal within 72 hours of treatment, and systemic symptoms disappeared; effective, stool properties and frequency were significantly improved after 72 hours of treatment, and systemic symptoms were significantly improved; invalid, after 72 hours of treatment, Stool characteristics, frequency and systemic symptoms did not improve or even worsened.

3 Discussion

Multifunctional microwave physiotherapy machine is a new generation of advanced medical technology developed recently to replace traditional treatment methods. It mainly uses microwave technology to treat various diseases. The medical principle of microwave technology is to heat the biological tissue itself as a heat source. The polar molecules in the tissue (mainly water molecules) rotate at high speed with the microwave frequency and rub each other to generate heat. The physiological changes caused by the temperature rise are used to treat diseases. method. Since microwaves have a certain penetration depth into biological tissues, coupled with corresponding radiation treatment probes, the thermal and non-thermal effects produced by it can effectively kill pathogens, improve local blood circulation, increase metabolic processes, strengthen local tissue nutrition, and promote penetration. The absorption of the exudates accelerates tissue repair. At the same time can promote white thin

phagocytosis, increase enzyme activity, reduce the excitability of sensory nerves, and improve tissue regeneration. Clinically, it has the functions of antispasmodic, analgesic, promoting inflammation dissipating and accelerating wound repair. Microwave treatment of infant rotavirus diarrhea has not been reported in China. Microwave treatment of rotavirus diarrhea in infants and young children can significantly shorten the course of the disease, improve the symptoms quickly, and is low in price, less side effects, easy to use, and good in compliance. It is more acceptable to children and suitable for clinical promotion.
