Information

[Abstract] "Objective" to observe the effect of millimeter waves on platelets and white blood cells in patients with hepatitis B and cirrhosis. Method Millimetre wave irradiation of Xuehai acupoints, Ganyou acupoints, Zusanli and Neiguan points for 45 minutes each time, twice a day, two weeks as a course of treatment. Results 73 patients with hepatitis B liver cirrhosis with white blood cell and thrombocytopenia were treated with drug alone, millimeter wave or drug millimeter wave combination, respectively, and the white blood cell count was significantly increased before and after treatment; drug alone or millimeter wave treatment was compared with that before treatment. There was no significant change in the platelet count after treatment, but the platelet count increased significantly after the combined application (P<0.05). Conclusion Millimeter wave adjuvant treatment of hepatitis B liver cirrhosis with leukopenia and thrombocytopenia has a significant effect on leukocytes and platelets.

1 Materials and methods

1.1 Case selection: From January 2004 to January 2005, there were 73 cases of Child-pugh A and B of hepatitis B cirrhosis in our hospital, including 56 males and 17 females, aged 30-71 years, with an average of 4,619 years. The diagnoses all met the diagnostic criteria of the 2000 "Prevention and Control Program for Viral Hepatitis". According to routine blood tests, a platelet count lower than 100×109/L is a thrombocytopenia. The average of 73 cases in this group is 55×109/L; a white blood cell count lower than 4×109/L is a leukopenia. The average of 73 cases in this group is 312×109/L;

1.2 Method: Patients with liver cirrhosis with leukopenia and thrombocytopenia were randomly divided into three groups, except for basic treatment (liver protection, symptomatic support, etc.), one group was treated with inosine, liver blood treasure and other drugs; the second group was treated with millimeter waves Irradiate Xuehai acupoints and liver acupoints for 45 minutes each time, 2 times a day, 2 weeks as a course of treatment; the three groups combined the above two methods.

1.3 Judgment of curative effect: The platelet count ≥100×109/L is markedly effective, if it rises but does not reach 100×109/L, it is effective, and there is no change or decrease is invalid. White blood cell count ≥ 4×109/L is markedly effective, rising but not reaching 4×109/L is effective, no change or decrease is invalid.

1.4 Statistical method: The mean of each group is expressed as .x±s, using χ2 test and t test.

2 results

Table 1 is the comparative data of the white blood cell count changes before and after treatment. Table 2 shows the comparison data of the platelet count changes in the three groups before and after treatment. It can be seen from Table 1, whether it is treated with drugs alone, millimeter wave or drug millimeter wave combination treatment, the white blood cell count has been significantly increased after treatment (P<0.01).

3 Discussion

Millimeter wave refers to extremely high frequency electromagnetic oscillation waves with a frequency of 30 to 300 GHz and a wavelength of 1 to 10 mm. It belongs to the microwave range. Due to the millimeter wave radiation (cosmic rays) in the external environment, it is largely absorbed by the atmosphere and organisms under natural conditions There are not many opportunities to be exposed to millimeter waves. Therefore, the natural adaptability to millimeter waves is relatively weak, resulting in sensitivity to millimeter waves. So it has been widely used clinically [4].

Research in recent years has shown that it can produce peculiar biological effects on the human body. It can have obvious effects on biological macromolecules, cells, and internal organs. Millimeter wave treatment is based on the resonance frequency of different parts of the human body, and the corresponding frequency of millimeter wave irradiation causes tissue resonance, so it is also called millimeter wave resonance therapy. The former Soviet Union began research on the effects of millimeter waves on organisms as early as 1965, and completed the first study on the clinical application of low-intensity millimeter waves in 1977. The study was to use millimeter waves to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers. And eye diseases [5]. Subsequently, many literatures reported successful cases of millimeter waves used in various clinical treatments, such as wound healing after surgery, tumors, increasing the number of white blood cells after tumor radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and immunomodulating effects on neutrophils [6-10], But for the treatment of thrombocytopenia and leukopenia caused by liver cirrhosis and hypersplenism after hepatitis B

No report. The infection rate of hepatitis B in my country is 10%, so the incidence of hepatitis B cirrhosis has also increased. Patients with liver cirrhosis often have various types of blood cell reduction, the most common ones are thrombocytopenia and leukopenia, especially bleeding gums and epistaxis with thrombocytopenia. Several important factors leading to thrombocytopenia in liver cirrhosis are: ① excessive retention of the spleen during hypersplenism; ② destruction of platelets by related antibodies (PAIgG); ③ serum thrombopoietin (TPO) levels [11,12]. Therefore, the treatment is more difficult. At present, it is nothing more than drug therapy or surgical treatment (splenectomy, splenic embolism), and the efficacy of drug therapy is not good, splenectomy and splenic embolism are risky and expensive. The observations in this article show that millimeter wave treatment has a certain effect on the reduction of white blood cells caused by hepatitis B liver cirrhosis. The effects of single application of drugs, single application of millimeter waves and combined applications are similar, so it is in the treatment of chronic

Patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis and leukopenia can choose medication or millimeter wave therapy, but considering the toxicity of the drug to the liver, the latter is better. However, the treatment of platelets, drug treatment and millimeter wave treatment alone have similar effects. There is no significant change in the increase of platelets before and after treatment (P values are 0.97 and 0.99, respectively), but there are still changes in terms of effective rate, which may be related to the increase. The lower range is related, and the number of cases that are markedly effective is quite related to the number of ineffective cases. The combination of drugs has better efficacy (P is 0.04, <0.05), so it is an important adjuvant treatment for thrombocytopenia caused by hypersplenism caused by hepatitis B liver cirrhosis. The principle of action may be the choice of millimeter wave irradiation points, because the skin is the key organ that is first affected by millimeter waves[13], and the most sensitive parts of the body surface to millimeter waves are acupuncture points and skin-visceral related areas, so the treatment is mostly used Radiation to the above parts. The millimeter wave radiation at the point of action of acupuncture, or biologically active point, can achieve the best effect. Therefore, the two irradiation points selected in this article are also two acupoints, namely Xuehai and Liver. According to the principle of traditional Chinese medicine meridian theory, acupuncture and moxibustion at Xuehai acupoint has the effect of increasing platelets. Millimeter wave irradiation of the acupoint will cause local resonance and stimulate the acupoint to produce biological effects, thereby promoting the proliferation of bone marrow hematopoietic progenitor cells. Wang Xiaojuan from the Fourth Military Medical University [4] discussed the effects of millimeter wave irradiation on the liver and believed that millimeter waves have an impact on liver cell energy metabolism. Therefore, irradiation of liver acupoints is beneficial to promote the repair of liver cells and relieve the excessive retention and phagocytosis of platelets by the spleen. The combination of drugs and millimeter waves in the treatment of thrombocytopenia caused by cirrhosis and hypersplenism has the advantages of significant curative effect, low cost, and good safety. It is an important auxiliary treatment method. In this paper, the platelet effective rate after millimeter wave treatment is higher, and whether the selected cases are Child-pugh A and B patients, it needs further study. In summary, millimeter wave is effective in adjuvant treatment of hepatitis B cirrhosis with white blood cell and thrombocytopenia.
